Which Zippo suits you?
A Zippo is not just any lighter. It is something you keep for life and carry with you every day. With more than 1,400 models, the choice can be overwhelming. We will help you answer three questions: how will you use it, what suits your style, and what is it worth?
How will you use it?
If your Zippo is mostly going to travel around with your keys, choose a brushed chrome or matte black finish, as these show scratches the least. For a permanent spot in an inside pocket or on your desk, you can happily go for a high polish or engraved model: they shine more but show wear sooner.
Which style suits you?
Classic (chrome, brass, antiqued silver) always works. The Limited Editions, such as Skull, Harley-Davidson and Marvel, are more of a statement and gain value as collectibles over the years. Not sure? Start with the Slim model: the same Zippo DNA in a slimmer format that sits comfortably in a trouser pocket.
What is it worth?
An entry-level Zippo costs around €25-30 and, with good care, really does last a lifetime. Zippo offers a lifetime manufacturer's warranty on the mechanism. For an engraved or Limited Edition model you pay €60-150. Above €200 you are buying a collector's item; the value lies in rarity, no longer in the flame itself.
Our three recommendations
Beginners: Zippo Brushed Chrome (classic, forgiving of scratches, affordable). Gift: Zippo Skull Design High Polish Brass, eye-catching without being kitsch. Collectors: a Limited Edition from the current year, as scarcity creates value.
