Het juistegereedschap.

Een sigaar verdient meer dan een keukenmes en een schoteltje. Een scherpe knipper geeft een nette snede, een goede asbak voorkomt asvegen en een sigarenetui beschermt tegen droogte. Klein gereedschap, groot verschil.

Precision that respects the cigar

A Bookwill cutter closes with the precision of a surgical instrument. Faro ashtrays are cast brass, not pressed sheet metal. Fox supplies cigar cases with a cedarwood interior, the same wood found in serious humidors. These are tools for those who know why a cigar may rest in the cellar for ten years before it is smoked.

A clean cut makes the draw

A ragged cut crushes the wrapper and blocks the draw. A sharp guillotine cutter or V-cutter leaves the filler intact. Our cutters can be resharpened, they are not disposable.

Ashtrays that don't scatter ash

Cigar ash is finer and lighter than cigarette ash. Dedicated cigar ashtrays have wider rests, weight in the base and high sides: no ash blowing away, no mess on the table.

Cases with cedarwood

A cigar case from Bookwill or Fox has a cedar wood interior. Cedar wood retains moisture, repels tobacco beetles, and gives the cigar the subtle spicy note you taste in serious humidors.

Een sigaar knippen - Stap voor stap

In vier stappen klaar voor de match.

Tip: Knip nooit dieper dan de schouder van de sigaar - daaronder valt de wikkel uit elkaar.

Examine the cigar

Hold the cap up to the light. You'll see the shoulder line: cut just in front of it, not into it.

Position the cutter

Keep the cigar vertical, slide the cutter over the cap until it hits the stop. No wobbling.

Fast and decisive

One firm movement, no half attempt. A hesitant cut crushes exactly what you want to open.

Check the draw

Blow gently through the cigar without lighting it. Too much resistance? Cut a little deeper.

Vragen over sigaren-accessoires?

Can't find it?

Specific question? Call or visit one of our stores, or send us an email. We will answer your question within 1 working day.

01 Which cutter is best: guillotine, V-cut or punch?

For most cigars: guillotine, a straight cut and a predictable draw. A V-cut concentrates the smoke towards the tongue and accentuates the flavour, popular with robustos. A punch makes a small hole, giving a concentrated draw but less smoke volume. Beginners choose the guillotine; very little can go wrong with it.

02 Can I have my cutter sharpened?

Yes, quality cutters such as Bookwill and Faro have replaceable or resharpenable blades. Bring it to our store; for a few euros it will cut like new again.

03 Why a cigar ashtray and not a regular one?

A cigar lasts 30-90 minutes. During that time a long column of ash forms that you'd rather not tap off. Cigar ashtrays have rests wide enough to put a cigar down safely.

04 How long does a cigar last in a case?

In a good cedarwood case, a cigar stays in optimal condition for 5-7 days, enough for a long weekend or a business trip.

05 Which end of the cigar do I cut?

The cap, the closed, rounded end. Always cut just before the shoulder, the visible line where the cap is attached to the wrapper.

06 Can I keep my cigar case in the fridge?

Better not. Fridges are dry and cold, which is bad for cigars. Keep the case at room temperature (16-22°C), out of direct sunlight.

07 Is an expensive ashtray really better than a cheap one?

For cigars: yes. Cheap ashtrays are often light, pressed from sheet steel, with sharp edges. A Faro ashtray is solid cast and weighs 800g+.
